The guide was very good, the group was too large. Sometimes the guide couldn't be heard well because there were too many of us.

Underground Tour of Naples

After meeting at your selected time in Piazza San Gaetano, we'll start a very interesting tour of the undergrounds of this area of Naples. Are you ready to travel back in time?

Once the introductions have been made, we'll dive into the insides of Naples with an expert guide. Under the ground of Piazza San Gaetano, we'll discover the world hidden no less than 40 metres (131 feet) deep.

During the tour of the Neapolitan underground, we'll reveal secrets from 2400 years ago. You'll be impressed! We'll explore ancient ruins, from the remains of a Greco-Roman aqueduct to the traces of a Roman theatre.

This journey into the past will also take us through tunnels used as air-raid shelters during the First World War. We'll even see caves transformed into water cisterns in the 4th century that are still used today. What do you think of this feat of civil engineering that has sustained the city for 5000 years?

After 1.5 hours, we'll finish the tour through the underground of Piazza San Gaetano, arriving back at the surface.

Opening hours

The San Gaetano Square subway is open from 10 am to 6 pm, with guided tours every hour between 12 pm and 2 pm. On the day of the tour, you'll have to be at Piazza San Gaetano 30 minutes before the time you want to visit.
