Buggy Tours in Marrakech

The desert landscape around Marrakech is shaped by the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, where rocky plateaus give way to the stone and scrub terrain of the Agafay Desert and the open shores of Lake Takerkoust. This isn't the rolling sand dunes of the Sahara, it's a more austere, wide-open landscape that rewards speed and space, which is exactly why buggy tours have become one of the most popular ways to explore it. Licensed guides lead all departures, and buggies and safety equipment are included across the experiences on this page.

Exploring the Landscape Around Marrakech by Buggy

The routes here cover two main areas. Shorter tours head into the desert south of the city, crossing dusty tracks through the High Atlas foothills with the mountains as a constant backdrop. Longer options push further out to the Agafay plateau and the shores of Lake Takerkoust, where the terrain opens up and the pace picks up accordingly. Some tours combine the buggy ride with a camel ride through the palm groves on the return, giving you two very different ways to cover the same landscape in a single outing. Routes are suitable for beginners, with no prior off-road driving experience required.

Before You Go

Wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty, and closed shoes are strongly recommended over sandals. Sun protection is essential year-round in this part of Morocco, and a buff or scarf for dust is worth packing, particularly on longer routes. Morning departures tend to be cooler and better for light. Check each product page for the exact meeting point, as some tours depart from within Marrakech while others meet closer to the desert. Age and weight restrictions may apply, so review the individual listing before booking.
